Jaw stone crusher drives the periodic movement of two jaws by transmission system, and crushes stones by two interlaced tooth-shaped lining plates on the crushing working surface, so the work is discontinuous. As a result, the crushing efficiency is low though the energy consumption is high. And the wear of machine parts is serious, resulting in a high stone sheet rate and a large particle size range. But its structure is simple and maintenance is convenient. The effect is pretty good when crushing hard rocks, so it is often used as primary crusher.

The cone crusher crushes stones by means of fixed outer cone and eccentrically moving inner cone, which is a continuous crusher with higher production efficiency than jaw crusher. However, cone stone crusher is also a kind of mechanical crushing, which is easy to cause abrasion and will get unstable product grain shape, besides, there is a large particle size range. So it is often used as secondary crusher and final crusher.

The impact crusher is a continuous non-mechanical crushing. It combines the crushing principles of strike, counterattack, centrifugal impact, shearing and grinding to make full use of its energy, which takes advantages of high crushing efficiency, fine and uniform finished products, less vulnerable parts, convenient maintenance and low energy consumption. The products have good granularity and angular shape, and there are few materials shaped like needle and flake in them. The granularity is continuous and powder is less. Impact crusher is often used for final crushing with high aggregate requirements, and it is also used for fine crushing of building materials, chemical industry, mining industry and metallurgical industry. When used for fine crushing before grinding, the particle size of grinding materials can be greatly reduced and the grinding effect can be replaced by crushing.
